Maestro Ilayaraaja on Canvas poster New

Gnani Arts presents Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s Melody on Canvas, an online charity art project curated by our
Curatorial Director, Ms. Vidhya Gouresan Nair.

Music connects us all and has a huge impact on our lives, be it directly or indirectly. Music soothes the soul, brings us peace but can also conjure suspense and excitement. Music is the universal language of mankind. The works of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja does all of that. Reputed to be the world’s most prolific composer, he has composed more than 7,000 songs, provided film scores for more than 1,000 movies, and performed in more than 20,000 concerts.

In this tumultuous period, when many parts of the world are all under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this project emerged to have artists stay connected and to showcase their works for a charitable cause. Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s works have inspired many of us, including artists.

This project has 20 renowned senior and master artists from Asia come together to create a painting each while soaking in the melody and emotive essence of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s music and relaying it onto each canvas from a visual and metaphysical perspective.

The Paintings are for sale and the sale proceeds will be donated to help the less fortunate in this crisis.
